Xbox Wireless Network Adapter - You Do NOT Need One to Get on Xbox Live!

It is perfectly normal to spend a lot of money in hopes of getting a sense of satisfaction for your technological needs. However, making sure that you get your money's worth is a totally different story. With the many opportunities for gadget advancement and upgrades in the market today, people would usually seek for the product branded by a first-party vendor. First-party vendors offer great accessories to game consoles in order to provide ease and comfort in the world of gaming. These simple peripherals are then enhanced by manufacturers from a third-party company in order to provide better experiences with the products provided. However, the Xbox Wireless Network Adapter promises otherwise.

Featuring a more innovative take when it comes to gaming accessories, the unique aesthetics and configurations of the Xbox Wireless Network Adapter guarantees a more enjoyable experience in multiplayer video gaming and other networking features of the Xbox 360. Without the clutter of wires, this wireless adapter weaves through the Ethernet to collect various data from different sources and players. This simple feat will be yours for a whopping US.99 if bought directly from the first-party vendor. In truth, most technological experts believe that having a physical hub or a router provides better quality gaming than acquiring an Xbox Wireless Network Adapter. Not only does a physical router manually transmit data and information from one device to another, it also assures equal distribution of connectivity no matter how far you are from the source of connection.

The Xbox Wireless Network Adapter is similar to a USB, featuring the same type of connection ends. It provides a wireless bridge for Xbox 360 players who wants an easier and faster networking scheme for multiplayer games. However, to achieve the maximum capability of the adapter, one must have the best Internet Service Provider available in the market. With a bad DSL or cable connection, you will simply be wasting your money and time with this brand new accessory. The adapter may not respond quickly with the program and may cause lulls and lags. The deal is, you simply do not need an Xbox Wireless Network Adapter in working an Xbox 360. Bear in mind that not all internet service providers have the ability to provide high-speed connectivity in terms of sharing multiply gadgets. In order to make it work more perfectly, you also need to purchase additional accessories to achieve that ultimate gaming experience claimed in most advertisements.

With just a simple router, you can easily share the same high-speed connection in chats, games and video transfer. You do not need to spend so much money with a wireless network adapter that may possibly be incompatible with your ISP. Instead of taking the risk of buying the wrong item or product for your favorite game console, it is best to use a simple router or a physical hub and stick to gaming traditions. The best way to be 100% certain that you'll be connected to your Xbox without a wireless adapter is to get in touch with a network professional.

The Evolution of Nokia's Smartphones and a Preview of the New Nokia N97

Nokia, while having 38% store global store share, has never truly been a proximity in the world's two largest economies, America and Japan. We can calculate as to why this is, but the main reasons behind it are lack of hold from providers, and products that weren't exactly what consumers in these markets were finding for at distinct points in time.

Certainly, Nokia is an innovator in the industry, their Series 40 operating ideas was regarded by many Europeans and Asians as the benchmark. However, what happened after that? Why were other newcomers such as Samsung and Sony Ericsson able to gain so much, so fast? My idea is that Nokia stopped mental out of the box, and tried to apply the Kaizen (continuous improvement) philosophy to something that required constant innovation and reinvention instead. You see, cell phones are not excellent devices. There are devices we have that serve their purposes singularly well, almost to the point of perfection. Take a Japanese knife, for example. It has been engineered and refined over time, to a point where the balance is as excellent as possible, the blade is as sharp as potential and the aesthetics have reached their height as well. There isn't much more that we will likely do with such a knife. This evolutionary approach is fine for things like Japanese knives, but not for new technology that hasn't quite found a permanent footing.

We are just starting to witness what a personal handheld gadget can do for us, and in the last few years, what have we seen? The particular biggest leap was the iPhone. Not because of any features mind you, but because of the way we interact with the device. It, single-handedly, has changed how we will interact with devices forever. Microsoft has taken a page from the iPhone book, and has talked of the idea of a large pane of glass with multi-touch inputs. Apple has taken iPhone-style input and added it to the trackpads in their most recent laptops, and just about every constructor has, or in the near future, will come out with a phone with an extra large touch input on the front.

Forward mental create is what makes the iPhone so unique, and it continues to this day. Google for example, takes advantage of the Gps, proximity sensor, microphone and 3G association to offer a very usable hunt program that can find results catered to your surroundings faster than a similar text entry could be input. Has Nokia innovated in this fashion? Arguably, in the cell phone world, not many have, but expectations of the store leader are high.

Nokia took the right decision to go down the smartphone road way back with the 7650. That was a very innovative phone, even a miniature ahead of its time. Running an open operating system, integrated camera, sliding design, the 7650 could have stormed North America and Japan. It was for real capable of Mp3 and video playback, convention ringtunes, and a host of other features that are popular with today's phones. Nokia for real did not store the gadget as well as it should have, especially in the markets that matter the most.

From the 7650, Nokia moved to devices like the 6600 and 3650. What sort of progress did Nokia make with this step? Next to nothing. The 7650 had an operating system, Symbian, that allowed for applications to be installed. European and Asian developers started development all kinds of programs for the phone, from frontends to Office document viewers, to file explorers, Mp3 players, video players and much more. The phone was qualified with a camera, and the fairly open operating ideas allowed for a quite a lot of development.

The supposedly next-generation 6600 offered miniature in the way of improvement. A dissimilar form factor, candybar, rather than slider, but the same screen with the same resolution and size, no major differences to the Os and the exact same battery meant that it was an aesthetic makeover more than anything. The 6600 took off in popularity in the European and Asian markets, and in 2005, made its way to North America as well, where it didn't find the kind of success it did abroad. Another phone was released colse to the same time, the 3650, which was largely the same as the 6600, but was aimed at the youth markets with its funky styling.

After these came the 7610, which followed Nokia's now-common convention of aesthetic changes combined with a higher pricetag. It offered a marginally best 1-megapixel camera, but by now, the Symbian Os had third-party software upconversion of photos that interpolated 1 megapixel images out of the Vga camera in the 6600 and 3650. These interpolated images that looked almost the same as those from the true 1-megapixel 7610.

The "next-gen" 6630 was the first 3G smartphone from Nokia, and that, along with the stereo headphone production was all that was new. It didn't quite make full use of the 3G, because 2-way video calls were something that was considered part and parcel of 3G phones, and the 6630 didn't have a front-facing camera.

Nokia did, however, sell a dock with an integrated camera separately, so that 2-way calls could be made. The dock had to be plugged in though, so in operation, it wasn't much dissimilar from using a computer with a webcam, and wasn't very "mobile." Even though all of Nokia's smartphones were more than capable of Mp3 playback, none had stereo audio production (smart, Nokia), even though the iPod's popularity could clearly be seen at the time. Users were restricted to monaural audio playing back straight through the loudspeaker, straight through the wired monaural headset, or straight through a low-quality monaural Bluetooth headset. Yes, they all had Bluetooth, from the start! When we got to the 6680, Nokia added a slightly best camera in the back, and a front-facing Vga camera for 3G video calls, after studying their part with the 6630.

Curiously, there were no other changes. By now, Nokia's innovation had slowed to a standstill. In contrast, Apple released a product that didn't do that much more technically, but for real stood behind the software and continually pushed its amelioration with each firmware update, something that Nokia could have done, having the most first-rate hardware and software at the time.

At this point, Nokia decided it needed to rejuvenate its image straight through the marketing department, and then came the N-series phones. These were again, not fundamentally dissimilar from the preceding phones, but were marketed as being better, as being "multimedia computers." They started adding more features this time around, such as best cameras, Carl Zeiss lenses, optical zoom on a model or two, and finally Wi-Fi. Some models were just rehashes of existing models; check out the similarities in the middle of the 6680 and the N70.

With the N-series came a newer version of Symbian, one that would not run most of the existing applications. As consumers, we know the stigma of not having backwards compatibility (cough, Ms Vista, cough Ps3, cough), so the amelioration cycle began anew. What's thoughprovoking to note is that even though the Symbian platform got an update, it didn't look or feel any different. It never had the thoughprovoking menus and ease of use that Sony Ericsson's phones had, but with the fancy Os, there should have been more changes.

Applications have always been short of memory on the Symbian platform, and with the exorbitant prices that Nokia has always charged, more memory wouldn't have hurt. Even in its most recent iteration, the Symbian platform is not what you'd call smooth, relative to the iPhone Os or Blackberry Os. Apps don't co-operate the way they should. If you receive a Word document in your e-mail, it won't necessarily open up with the correct viewer, and in the rare event that it tries, crashes and slow speeds are a surity. Nokia came out with a good browser on the N80, and has used it since, but its welcome has worn off. It was great when it first came out, miles beyond everyone else's browser. Since then, apparently, miniature amelioration has been made. It's still a royal pain in the butt to surf, and even more so on flash-heavy sites. Flash of course, doesn't work fully. Dream if they made it work... It'd be the first phone capable of browsing the full internet, something even the iPhone struggles with. The N90 and N93 were for real interesting, but were plagued with the same issues. The N93 had a flip-open mode, just as this new N97 does, but it wouldn't always register the flip and go into scenery mode, or, would do it very slowly.

While the N95 has been Nokia's magnum opus for some time now, its software is eons behind iPhone and even Blackberry in its reliability. Crashes and slow boot times don't make for a good user experience, and consequently unhappy customers.

Another problem has been that the reality of the features hasn't lived up to the hype. Integrated Gps was a great idea in the N95, but Nokia didn't consist of any usable turn-by-turn navigation software, and instead, wanted to payment for it. Slow to lock on and often inaccurate, the Gps was largely a waste. The N95 featured a 5-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, but took fairly mediocre pictures that were for real beat by a cheap handheld camera. The time needed to go from application start to picture taken was unbelievably long too. Meanwhile, Samsung's phones in Korea and the Japan-only phones had excellent cameras.

Smartphones need good screens. Plus, consumers love big screens. Sounds like a no-brainer... Have a good screen, right? Nokia went from using lowish resolution 2.23 screens to a brilliant 352×406 screen in the N90 and N80 that had pixels so tight, they couldn't be seen with the naked eye.

Granted, the screen size was small, but this effort was in the right direction. Unbelievably, after the N80, Nokia went right back to using low resolution screens, exclusively. Until now, they increased size, but not resolution. Given all that, I think you can see why Nokia hasn't fared all that well in North America and Japan. For all their flaws, each new phone cost the whole of a full blown laptop, something that doesn't conclude all that well with value-centric North Americans (we spend more than anyone else on the planet, but want to get our money's worth!).

And now we get to Nokia's new baby. The N97. Clearly, Nokia wants to play off the popularity of the N95 by following its alphanumeric pattern, but oddly, this seems to make light of the fact that the N96 was quite the dud. Essentially the exact same as the N95 (what is with that?) with 16 Gb vs. 8, we never for real saw it take off... It made the blogs, citizen reported buying them in Singapore and wherever, and now... Nokia has moved on. Anyways, good for them that they did, because the N97 is clearly the first big step since that first-rate 7650.

Nokia finally seems to have understood that finger-based touch input is here to stay, and has included one hell of a screen to quiet my complaining. 640 x 360 resolution, which makes it a 16:9 display, perfectly cordial with oh, contemporary Tv and movies, something that 20 and 30somethings would love. Incidentally, they are the ones who'd spend on such a device... Good Nokia, good! You're finally starting to understand your target market! They've gone a step ahead and included tactile feedback. This is more software than hardware, because the iPhone is technically capable of this too, but I'm thoughprovoking to see how well-implemented it is. There were mice with tactile feedback some time ago, where you'd roll the cursor over a link and you'd "feel" the link there. I'm not sure if that helps in any way, but hey, if Nokia found a way to make it useful... Awesome.

Also, Nokia apparently realizes that the internet is important, and so, a full tactile Qwerty keyboard flips out. This is a great feature, which will for real find favour here. It's thoughprovoking to see how much Nokia has borrowed from the iPhone in terms of style... It can be seen the most when the screen is off.

Hsdpa and WiFi radios were a must, and they're there, but hopefully the WiFi is N-grade this time colse to and has decent range. 32 Gb of onboard warehouse And a microSd slot shows they've been listening to what citizen want, and this highlight solidly trumps the iPhones unexpandable memory. They say the camera is 5 megapixel, Carl Zeiss lens, and can shoot Vga video at 30 fps. Well, so what? My 2.5-year old N93 could do that. In 2009, the phone should have been able to do at least 720p video with sound equivalent to the N93. I think this is the weakest part of the phone, frankly.

Finally, one of the most prominent pieces of the puzzle, the Os, gets a real upgrade. From the pictures, it looks like Nokia has taken its old ideas, and elevated them to a new level. The "today" screen, present on the last few generations, would present calendar appointments, to-do notes, e-mail and text messages on the main screen, letting you know what you need to at a glance. They've given it the glossy Apple rehabilitation this time around, and the today screen, thanks to the large resolution and size, now includes Facebook, Myspace, weather and a whole of other alerts. This too, in my opinion, trumps the iPhone in terms of real usability, because you can get tons of beneficial information at a glance, rather than having to go into personel applications. Clear big buttons (in the pictures) indicate that this version might be easier to use, something Symbian desperately needed. If the software is as good as it looks, and the touchscreen works as well or best than the iPhone's, it looks like we have a real winner on our hands. The pricing for this will be well into the 0s unlocked, but if North American carriers pick it up and offer it at a decent price, this phone could for real do well if Nokia markets it right. I'm finding send to testing it!

Wireless Broadband Internet

Wireless broadband internet is a huge strengthen in technology, providing a much faster association to the internet, compared with outmoded methods, such as dial-up, on top of the benefit of being more favorable than a wired broadband internet connection. The guess is due to the fact that using wireless broadband internet enables a man to use a approved desktop computer in increasing to other desktops, laptops, or game consoles throughout the house, without the drawbacks associated with a wired broadband connection.

The drawbacks of a wired broadband association consist of having to keep a main computer associated to the router, and depending on a particular family's needs, utilizing a lot of unsightly network cables that may have to be tacked to walls or over doorways. Not many population want to have 50 foot network cables running from their main desktop to every room of the house just to accommodate the broadband needs of the family. This is where using wireless broadband internet comes in.

The foremost benefit of utilizing wireless broadband internet, for a technologically-inclined family, is the potential to use a game console such as the Wii, Ps3, or Xbox 360, without interrupting other users in the home. While households without such capabilities, having to take turns (depending on how many connections their particular router hub is equipped with), and disconnecting and reconnecting cables so man can switch to internet, or back to a game console, just becomes tiresome. Wireless users, however, are not hampered down with such restrictions on their usage. However, all of that is in fact avoided when using wireless broadband internet and connecting all of the household's technology to one wireless router. This leaves the home free from manifold network cables running all over the place, and allows everyone in the home to use manifold laptops, game consoles, or the home desktop, all at the same time.

Networking an whole household to a wireless broadband internet association is virtually hassle-free once all household technology is associated to the router. A decent wireless router can cost, on average, nearby .00, and can be found at retailers such as Best Buy, TigerDirect.com, or newegg.com, but can also be rented from a cable service provider, such as Verizon, Charter, or DirecTv, for a monthly fee of nearby .99 a month.

Saving time by not having to disconnect and reconnect a network cable every time man wants to use the laptop, the computer or the Wii is absolutely worth the price.

How to choose the Best Xbox Wireless Adapter For Wireless relationship to the Network

Xbox Wireless adapters are used to associate the Xbox console wirelessly to the existing network (that is associated to the broadband internet) to allow you play games online in the ease of your living room without the hassle of running the network cable.

Wireless network in home provides the easiness and portability. For gamers, having the wireless network in home is a much benefits. With your Xbox console, you can find a convenience place to contact online gaming without the clutter of the wires. How can you do that? You need an interface that allows you to associate to the existing network via the radio frequency band. Xbox wireless adapter will function as the bridge that will allow the Xbox console to relate with the network via the airwave and then associate to the wild internet.

Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter Bypass Guide

Identify Your Existing Wireless Standard

One of the main reasons you build a wireless network in home is to share the broadband internet relationship with many computers or any other network clients including the Xbox in the household. Now, which Xbox wireless adapter will fit to your existing network? Firstly you need to identify your existing network environment which wireless suitable it is: 802.11 b/g/n or dual band. Dual-band frequency can be wireless G/A (802.11a/g) or wireless N/A (802.11a/n) network standards.

Knowing which suitable your existing network is, literally you need the adapter with the same suitable as your network. For example, if you use the wireless -G router for your network, you should also need wireless -G adapter for the Xbox. Any way that statement doesn't always true. Basically you can associate wireless -N adapter to the existing wireless -G network. But, you need to identify if the adapter is labeled with the Wi-Fi Certified. With the Wi-Fi Certified labeled, the adapter is assured to be compatible with the standards as described in the labeled (wireless b/g/n).

Should y0u pick the adapter from the same seller as your router? Wi-Fi Certified labeled will guarantee that the adapter will be compatible with any industrial wireless devices. Or you can identify the manufacturer specification if the adapter supports the Xbox console. Basically the principle of the Xbox wireless adapter is a wireless bridge. You can use any types of wireless bridges as the wireless game adapter with Ethernet port enable to associate to the existing wireless network.

Future Upgrade

Probably your existing wireless b/g network is not satisfactory for daily tasks that question higher speed, reliable relationship and longer length coverage, and you plan for hereafter upgrade with the new wireless technology ready today - the wireless n with dual-band network. Then you need the Xbox wireless adapter that is powered by the most up-to-date technology ready in the marketplace today: the 802.11n suitable with dual-band feature. With the adapter that supports the draft 802.11n and dual-band technology, you will accomplish the maximum throughput when connecting to the most fine wireless router that supports draft 802.11n, dual-band, and QoS.

Wireless -G Adapter

If your existing network uses the router with 802.11 b/g standard, and you will never plan for hereafter upgrade to 802.11n dual-band, then you should pick the Xbox wireless adapter with 802.11g standard. The adapter with 802.11G suitable is economy than 802.11N.

Microsoft introduces two types Xbox adapters with 802.11G standards, one of them supports dual-band (wireless -G/A) and the other one is 802.11G adapter that supports all the wireless b/g/n networks.

D-Link also introduces Dwl-G820 and Dgl-3420 which are powered by 802.11G standards, but the Dgl-3420 is a dual-band (wireless -g/a) version with the maximum speed up to 108Mbps in ideal condition.

Wireless -N adapter

For Xbox wireless adapter with 802.11n standard, Microsoft also introduces the wireless -n version with dual-band features. The adapter is designed for covenant and high carrying out and is powered by Xbox 360 to eliminate adapter clutter. TrendNet also introduces Tew-647Ga gaming adapter which is also powered by wireless -n standard. Linksys also introduces Wet610n Linksys Gaming Adapter which is powered by wireless -n with dual-band highlight too.

If the price different among Xbox wireless adapter products are not much big different, having the wireless -n with dual-band technology would be much benefit. If your current wireless network is based on wireless -n router with dual band, the throughput would be optimum. But if your current wireless network is based on wireless -g router, make sure that your wireless -n adapter is backward compatible with wireless -g standard.

Common Types of Wireless Networks

We will be taking a closer look a various wireless technologies that include data transmitting and are linked to the family of radio standardized protocols 802.11(which is known as 802.11a, b or c), known in many circles as Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) and 802.16, known as WiMax.

802.11b is an IEEE protocol since the 16 of September 1999 and it is probably the most common wireless network protocol used in most home use devices up to date. It used DSSS modulations and it operated on the frequency range of industry, science and medicine. If you use these protocols you don't need any licenses as long as you are using standardized devices. It has his limits as follows: the output power is up to 1 watt and the modulations are only those that can fit into the 2.412 and 2.484 GHz range. The maximum network speed while using devices with this protocol is 11 Mbps, but the average speed that has been calculated in home using is of 5Mbps.

Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter

xbox 360 wireless network adapter cheap

802.11g has been used since June 2003. Despite his late start, this protocol is in fact the standard protocol of wireless networks because it has been implemented in all laptops that have wireless cards incorporated and on most other portable devices. It used the same frequencies as 802.11b, but it uses the modulation type OFDM, which makes it better and faster. Its maximum network speed is of 54Mbps, with practical references of 25 Mbps. The transfer speed is flexible and can decrease sometimes to speeds that are even lower than 11Mbps, and the devices switches to DSSS modulation, to realize data exchange with the more popular 802.11b protocol.

802.11a is a known and certified protocol since September 1999. It used OFDM modulations and has a maximum speed of 54MBps. Because it operates on higher frequencies that the two protocols mentioned above, it is incompatible with them, so no connections can be made between them. In some countries, using these frequencies is not allowed without a license, so this is what makes the protocol less popular, even if the equipments are in fact cheaper.

802.16 has been a valid wireless protocol since 2004 and it can use various frequencies, some licensed and other unlicensed. The WiMax flexibility can offer attractive prices for a various range of services as VoiP telephony, video surveillance, distance monitoring, e-learning, ad-hoc networks for companies. This is often used by companies and juridical persons.

For persons with bad intentions, who are very well trained in the field, the security of all wireless protocols is questionable. The basic security methods that have been implemented in WI-Fi protocols assure a pretty low level of security, which pretty much stopped them from taking over for a while.

[http://192.168.1.1] or[http://192.168.2.1]1) Change Admin password

Most wireless routers ship with a blank password. It is essential that this is changed else a potential hacker could get into your router configuration and lock you out of your own hardware.

2) Change The Network Name (otherwise known as the SSID)

The default network name is usually made up of the name/model of your wireless router. This information gives a head start for a hacker and makes it easier for them to break into your network. Don't rename it to something like your surname or house name as this unnecessarily exposes personal information. Rename it to an alpha-numeric string - this can be up to 32 characters long.

3) Turn off SSID broadcasting

By default, a wireless router's SSID is broadcast so anyone in the vicinity of your wireless router can see that it. SSID broadcasting can be turned off thus making your wireless router virtually invisible.

4) Enabling Encryption

This is switched off by default. There is a choice of WEP, WPA and WPA2. Currently the latest encryption method is WPA2 so use this where possible. Both your wireless router and wireless PC adaptor must be configured to use the same encryption.

5) Mac Address Control

All hardware has a unique MAC address associated with it, including your PC adaptor card. This MAC address can be added to access control list in the wireless router. Only devices added to the router's access control list are allowed to be connected.

6) Update router firmware

It is recommended that the latest router firmware is downloaded from the manufacturer's website and installed in the router. This will hopefully fix any bugs that have been found for your router and also help with any known security flaws in the router itself.

7) Backup settings

Finally, backup all router settings. If you reset the router back to its factory default settings for whatever reason, your configuration can later be easily and quickly restored back into the router.

Connect Your PS3 to the Internet - Wired and Wireless Techniques

The PlayStation 3 serves as a decent home entertainment console that lets you play hundreds of games as well as watch Blu-ray movies. However, you can really see the potential of the console when you connect your PS3 to the Internet. An Internet connection is required to access the PlayStation Network which is used to download games and play multiplayer games online. It also lets you surf online or use other online services like Netflix.

Your approach to the Internet will depend on how your PS3 is set up with the rest of your components. If your PS3 is placed near your router or modem, you can use the wired connectivity approach. Otherwise, going the wireless route is easier and more convenient if you have a wireless router or access point.

1. Plug the Ethernet cable that comes with your PS3 into the Ethernet jack on the back and plug the other end to one of the available ports on the router.

2. Make sure the router is connected to the access point via Ethernet if you want wireless access. This is not necessary if your router has built-in wireless functionality.

3. Turn on your PS3 and go to the "Settings" menu from the home screen. Go to "Network Settings" from there and head to "Internet Connection Settings." Select the "Yes" option to proceed. Use the "X" button on your controller to confirm any selections or choose an option.

4. Depending on your setup, select either "Wireless" or "Wired Connection." If you choose "Wired Connection," select the "Easy" option first and then select the "Test Connection" option to see if you have Internet. If you don't, choose the "Custom" option instead and ask your Internet Service Provider for assistance regarding the settings.

5. For wireless connections, select the "Scan" option and wait for the system to scan for any access points.

6. A list of SSID's should appear and one of them should represent the access point or wireless router that you have. Choose that SSID to connect.

7. If your wireless router requires a key, choose the type of encryption from the list. It must match the encryption used for the wireless router, so contact the person who set that router up if you do not understand this part. Enter the key afterward and test the connection using the "Test Connection" option.

8. If you have any problems, double check all the connections and confirm your router works with a laptop or desktop PC. Then try to access the admin panel. You can also try loading up a web browser to see if you have Internet connectivity. Otherwise, contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance.
